VPAR’s first product was a live scoring service; giving amateur golfers the ability to see where they stand on a live leaderboard on course, in the clubhouse and online – something only previously available to professionals such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.  The company now also supplies some of the most recognised brands (HSBC, PWC, Audi, ESPN and Samsung) and renowned golf courses (Pebble Beach, Winged Foot, Celtic Manor, Gleneagles and Wentworth) in the world. This includes scoring events for The PGA Tour, The LPGA Tour and The European Tour as well as thousands of corporate tournaments across 22 countries.

What I do

VPAR has three core sides of the business, an app available on iOS and Android, a Tournament Service and a Tournament Management system used by Golf clubs. I came into the business with little knowledge of golf and now work within the VPAR product to a Lead UX designer.

My primary role is to develop and refine features across the app and managed service platform. I do this by talking golfers and define what their needs and goals are before developing a new feature. I also talk to Stakeholders across the business to ensure that and new features we plan to develop meet the needs of the business.  Since I began working on the project I have worked with the developer and engineers to transform the legacy VPAR iOS. I have also been integral in the development of the new Android build of the app. Most notably designing the Registration, Onboarding, Digital Sccorecard and feed.  I use a wide range of UX processes including,  card sorting,  creating user flows and user journeys, heuristic analysis, information architecture, customer feedback, participatory design and prototyping. My background as a graphic designer and motion designer  also means I am able to get involved in the creation of high fidelity prototypes.
